With the promise of warmer weather not far away, Cancer Council Australia is urging all Aussies to SLIP, SLOP, SLAP, SEEK and SLIDE this summer.
To ensure the best possible protection from the harsh Australian sun, the Cancer Council offers a high quality and affordable range of products including sunscreens, beauty products, prescription-ready sunglasses, clothing, headwear and swimwear options.
Cancer Council Australia CEO, Professor Ian Olver, said Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world, with an estimated 434,000 new cases each year.
“Sun protection needs to be part of our everyday routines and the Cancer Council range of products has been carefully designed to make looking after ourselves in the sun easy, practical and fashionable,” he said.
SLIP into Cancer Council’s protective clothing for one of the best barriers between skin and the sun. With a range of sunsuits, shirts, jackets, swim shorts and beachwear for children from six months through to adults, this protective clothing offers an ultraviolet protection factor of UPF50+, the highest available rating in Australia.
SLOP on the Everyday or Ultra sunscreen for that trip to the beach, outdoor party or work; the Active and Sport sunscreens are perfect for the cricket pitch or golf range; the Repel formula for camping and fishing trips, or the Kids sunscreen for those little ones with sensitive skin. Sunscreens come in a variety of sizes from handy purse and roll on packs, to Ezi-Clips and family-size pump packs.
To complement the use of SPF30+ sunscreen, Cancer Council also provides a cosmetics range featuring face creams, tinted moisturisers, foundations, lipsticks and moisturising lip gloss. Featuring SPF30+ protection, they provide greater protection for incidental sun exposure and can assist in preventing premature ageing.
This season’s range of fashionable, functional broad-brimmed hats make SLAPPING on a hat part of the everyday routine for the whole family. Featuring a variety of colours and styles including wash-and-wear, straw, bucket-caps and legionnaire hats, the collection has something for every age and taste.
Finish off the look and SLIDE on a pair of stylish Cancer Council sunglasses, offering the highest level of eye protection with optimum viewing clarity. There is a range of cool styles for the kids including colourful designs for babies and toddlers, through to more sophisticated looks for older children, teens and adults.
With a variety of sun cabanas and marquees, SEEKING shade has never been easier – anywhere, anytime!
For ultimate sun protection, Cancer Council Australia recommends:
1. Slip on some sun-protective clothing that covers as much skin as possible
2. Slop on SPF 30+ sunscreen – make sure it is broad spectrum and water resistant
3. Slap on a hat that protects your face, head, neck and ears
4. Slide on sunglasses – make sure they meet Australian standards
5. Seek shade
