Link Wentworth’s Home Sweet event raises over $170k for homelessness in Sydney

Link Wentworth is proud to announce that the Home Sweet 2023 event held on Friday, March 17th raised over $170,000 to support the fight against homelessness in Sydney.

Link Wentworth’s mission is to provide safe, secure, and sustainable housing options for all Australians, including those most at risk of homelessness, including those impacted by domestic violence, family breakdown, and women over 55. The event, hosted in partnership with The Burdekin Association and Women’s Community Shelters (WCS), raised awareness and funds to address homelessness.

This year’s event had 100 attendees and 60 “sleepees” who either slept out at the Freshwater Surf Life Saving Club on Sydney’s Northern Beaches or virtually in their car or backyard. Participation was open to everyone, with opportunities to donate by sponsoring another participant or creating a unique fundraising page.

Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Link Wentworth was determined to bring back the Home Sweet event and continue its mission to provide more homes and deliver better services to enable a brighter future for people facing housing stress and homelessness.

“The success of this year’s Home Sweet event is a testament to the incredible generosity and commitment of our supporters and partners. This event has shown that together, we can make a meaningful difference in the fight against homelessness in Sydney,” Link Wentworth CEO Andrew McAnulty said.

Link Wentworth has a wealth of experience in social and affordable housing and on-the-ground community service. This deep understanding of the needs of vulnerable people allows Link Wentworth to offer a unique level of support and services to assist those in need.

The partnership between Link Wentworth, The Burdekin Association, and WCS exemplifies the power of collaboration and its potential for making a meaningful impact. With the funds raised from the Home Sweet event, these organisations can continue their important work and make a positive difference in the lives of those at risk of homelessness.

The funds raised from the Home Sweet 2023 event will go towards supporting The Burdekin Association, WCS, and Link Wentworth’s scholarship program. It’s not too late to support the cause and donate. Fundraising for the Home Sweet event closes on Friday, so there is still time to contribute and help make a difference in the fight against homelessness in Sydney.
